Chad's Kansas 9-point
November 18, 2007
November 18th found us back in Kansas set
up on the edge of a crp field where we had seen some good deer
movement in previous hunts. Around mid morning we spotted a shooter
working his way in our direction across the crp field. When the buck
got about seventy yards from our set, he spotted a smaller buck
chasing a doe. His attention was immediately directed towards them.
He turned and started heading in their direction. I decided to grunt
and rattle at the buck but he showed no interest. He had other
things on his mind at the time.
About forty-five minutes later we heard foot steps out in front of
us. I caught movement and there he was. The same buck we had an
encounter with earlier. I readied my Matthew’s bow and waited for my
opportunity. The buck quickly closed the distance to 10 yards. When
the buck reached my shooting lane, I settled my pin on his shoulder
and released my arrow. The buck bolted but only made it seventy
yards or so before we heard him crash. What a great morning in the
stand! Kansas has been good to us once again.
